Overview

This Grand Rounds session will provide a focused review of euglycemic DKA, including diagnostic criteria, risk factors, and current best-practice treatment strategies.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Improve recognition of euglycemia DKA using appropriate criteria, including anion gap acidosis and ketone assessment
  2. Identify key risk factors for Euglycemia including SGLT2 inhibitor use, perioperative fasting, pregnancy, alcohol use, and starvation states- to support earlier screening and prevention.
  3. Apply evidence-based management strategies, including fixed-rate insulin infusion, dextrose-containing fluids, and appropriate monitoring of ketones and anion gap.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Through question and answer time with the presenter, all learners will display improved recognition of euglycemia DKA using appropriate criteria, including anion gap acidosis and ketone assessment.
  2. All learners will apply evidence-based management strategies, including fixed-rate insulin infusion, dextrose-containing fluids, and appropriate monitoring of ketones and anion gap, as evidenced by improved patient outcomes monitored by the Diabetes Collaborative Committee.

Accreditation

The Mississippi State Medical Association is a member of the Southern States CME Collaborative (SSCC).  North Mississippi Medical Center is accredited by the SSCC to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
