Grand Round: Euglycemia

This Grand Rounds session will provide a focused review of euglycemic DKA, including diagnostic criteria, risk factors, and current best-practice treatment strategies.

1. Improve recognition of euglycemia DKA using appropriate criteria, including anion gap acidosis and ketone assessment
2. Identify key risk factors for Euglycemia including SGLT2 inhibitor use, perioperative fasting, pregnancy, alcohol use, and starvation states- to support earlier screening and prevention.
3. Apply evidence-based management strategies, including fixed-rate insulin infusion, dextrose-containing fluids, and appropriate monitoring of ketones and anion gap.

1. Through question and answer time with the presenter, all learners will display improved recognition of euglycemia DKA using appropriate criteria, including anion gap acidosis and ketone assessment.
2. All learners will apply evidence-based management strategies, including fixed-rate insulin infusion, dextrose-containing fluids, and appropriate monitoring of ketones and anion gap, as evidenced by improved patient outcomes monitored by the Diabetes Collaborative Committee.

NMMC is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Mississippi Nurses Foundation, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation.  This activity has been awarded for 1.00 contact hour(s). CE#00192-EDI-2411.
