Overview
The primary aim of Medical Ethics Conference is to raise the level of awareness and degree of understanding of fundamental, as well as, emerging issues and concerns in medical ethics. Topics include healthcare practices, societal issues and medicolegal concerns. Time is included for audience participation and questions.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Define "End of Life" and explain the important role providers and medical staff can play in faciliting timely interventions and support services under such circumstances.
  2. Recognize how ethical considerations are especially important when dealing with end-of-life care, including decisions about life sustaining treatment, as well as palliative or hospices care.
  3. Review healthcare provider best practices for working with patients at EOL in an effort to optimize health outcomes and enhance quality of life.
  4. Explain how critical conversations and assessments, conducted in a respectful and collaborative manner facilitate timely interventions and support services.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Self-report through the post evaluation an increase in knowledge related to ethical considerations when dealing with end-of-life-care.
  2. Self-report through the post evaluation an intent to incorporate into practice critical conversation and assessment capabilities related to end-of-life care.
