Overview

The focus is to provide learners with proven treatment options for disease states prevalent in our region. Specialists will address challenges in managing these maladies and discuss the variation of treatments required in properly maintaining the patient’s health specifically in the patient with multiple diagnoses. The learner will be provided content that is supported by evidence-based therapies with some examples of proven outcomes data within the NMHS system.

There will be an extra procedural lab offering on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 including both a core skills lab.  


ACCME Objectives
  1. Review pre-referral evaluation and pre-referral medication management to enhance the impact of specialist consultation at initial referral visit and avoid unnecessary testing and treatment.
  2. Apply the prescribing laws and regulations into clinical practice for the safe and effective use of controlled substances in the management of the complex patient.
  3. Describe the role of multidisciplinary teams when caring for patients who may require care from a specialist.
  4. Identify the appropriate tests and procedures to refer a patient for specialist care.
  5. Recognize the current guidelines and best practices for prevalent diseases, their diagnosis, and treatment.

Mississippi Nursing Foundation Objectives
  1. 95% of participants will report this conference provides information that enhances knowledge of concepts, tools, and techniques that they will encorporate into practice to enhance patient outcomes in their area.

 The Mississippi State Medical Association is a member of the Southern States CME Collaborative (SSCC).  North Mississippi Medical Center is accredited by the SSCC to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

NMMC designates this Live Activity course for a maximum of 22.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
